Passover Made Easy in NYC

Gefilte Fish

Gefilte Fish

I know you’ve heard plenty about Easter already.  And here in NYC, many more folks are preparing for Passover anyway.  But like any holiday planning, it can be a labor of love. If you’re strapped for time, don’t have relatives in town, and would rather let someone else make the gefilte fish for a change, restaurants across the city are offering traditional and pre-prepared takeout dishes crafted by the experts.  And even if you’re not Jewish, the joy of matzo or challah loaves has a way of busting through all cultural palettes.

In Midtown East, Rosa Mexicano‘s offers Passover fare with a south of the border flair.  Their Passover a la Mexicana features treats like chipotle chopped liver and traditional beef tongue simmered in a Veracruz sauce.

On the Upper East Side at 1032 Lexington Ave, Payard Patisserie & Bistro‘s Passover menu includes sautéed king salmon with seasonal baby beets, green asparagus and horseradish. Leave room for dessert because Payard is synonymous with top notch desserts like flourless dark chocolate cake and Parisian macaroons (similar to traditional Jewish coconut macaroons also sold here).

For herbivores, My Most Favorite Food‘s menu is mouthwatering year round but Passover promises to be particularly tasty with dishes like Aromatic Vegetable Kabobs and Barley Risotto.  They’re located at 247 W 72nd St. near Times Square.

Kosher superstore Pomegranate at 1507 Coney Island Ave. in Brooklyn offers up passel of premium grub including an excellent selection of top notch sushi and organic meats.
