Amai Tea & Bake House
The way I see it, winter is arriving whether we like it or not. We can choose to grumble and pine for the sun’s warmer rays, head to the Caribbean, or just savor the season’s finer pleasures. Sure it’s chilly but take a moment to look outside at the individual snow flakes gliding past in that flurry. Look up as each flake silently descends against the backdrop of skyscrapers into the surrounding busyness.
Believe it or not, it’s possible to see beyond NYC’s relentless grind through falling leaves and snow to these more delicate moments that only winter can bring. And what better way to accentuate this Zen-like experience than with a piping hot specialty tea paired with a matching ‘biscuit’. This is where Amai Tea & Bake House steps in with their huge loose leaf selection stored in tea drawers similar to an old library card catalog along with fresh home baked treats neatly stacked in a pull out glass display case.
Ponder the endless flavor pairings ranging from steamed Hojicha with green tea-red bean muffins sprinkled with Matcha powder, a cup of oolong with a rich lychee brownie, or ingredient specific teas along with some of their little shortbread cookies, easily consumed in 2 bites yet light and crumbly bursting with flavor combinations like White Tea Strawberry and Earl Grey Black Currant scented with bergamot oil. My favorite are the Chai Almond cookies paired with of course…Chai Tea. Once you’ve found a match, you’re taste buds are sure to reach nirvana!
