F&B European Gudtfood
F&B (Frites and Beignets) European Gudtfood was founded by an Englishman and German homesick for Europe’s
savory street foods. Whether it’s the piping hot potato frites and zesty mayonnaise of Brussels, wheat beer and plump bratwursts from a German Bier Kellar or a Great Dane hot dog in Copenhagen, it’s all gudt here! Showpiece dishes here are the hot dog, referred to as the ‘haute dog’ and fish and chips. You may think that $3.50 for a hot dog is kind of pricey but F&B is by far the most unique of Midtown food chains and they make up for it in quality and unique selection. These aren’t your hot dogs from the hot water trays or even Nathan’s. We’re talking gourmet hot dog and veggie dogs with 9 different fresh toppings like guacamole, Parmesan, sweet corn relish, and sautéed peppers.
More exotic offerings include The Norwegian, a salmon sausage with tomato and horseradish; the Florentine, turkey with spinach and Asiago cheese; and the Bavarian, a veal and pork bratwurst topped with sauerkraut. Key sides include Belgian pomme frites (green bean or sweet potato fries) and Swedish meatballs topped with lingonberries. And if you recoil at the idea of mystery meat or animal flesh in general, I recommend the veggie dog made of tofu with your choice of toppings…pretty close to the real thing…without the heart palpitations afterward. For dessert, churros, Spanish donuts with cinnamon; and Beignets, their powdered sugar coated French cousins, await. Best of all, in true across- the-pond fashion, they do serve beer……Stella on tap!
